Vote for the New 7 Wonders of the World which was announced during the Official Declaration ceremony in Lisbon, Portugal on Saturday, July 7, 2007. I saw this on Mel & Joey, a GMA TV show, this Sunday on the evening.
When I visited the website, our very own Tubbataha Reef, Chocolate Hills and Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park are in the Top 77. The current live ranking last update was on May 11, 2008 at 10:00 GMT and this ranking is always updated twice a day.
Tubbataha Reef’s current ranking is 8. It is an islet coral reef in the Sulu Sea, Philippines, which is composed of two islets, the North and South Reefs. Each reef has a single small islet and separated by a deep channel 8 kilometers wide. It is more than one thousand species, including endangered like manta rays, lionfish, tortoises, clownfish and sharks can be found at on the reef.
An extraordinary geological formation in Bohol, Philippines, Chocolate Hills’s current ranking is 9. There are around 1,268 perfectly cone-shaped hills that spread over the area of more than 50 sq km with almost have the same sizes. It is covered in green grasses but during dry seasons, grasses will dry and the color will turn into brown, that’s why it is named, ''Chocolate Hills.''
The Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park’s current ranking is 18. It is located about 50 km north of the city of Puerto Princesa, Palawan, Philippines and this 8.2 km. is apparent to be the world's longest underground river with a limestone karst mountain landscape that includes major formations of stalactites and stalagmites, and several large chambers.
The website is www.new7wonders.com and voting will go on until December 31, 2008. A New 7 Wonders Panel of Experts will then select the 21 finalists, from which voters worldwide will elect the New 7 Wonders of Nature.
